This album featured Ben Dobson on lead vocals, Todd Clary on rhythm guitar and backing vocals, Warren Cooke on bass, Ben Harper on lead guitar, Longineu Parsons on drums, and Sean Mackin on violin and backing vocals. It is currently out of print.

Following the dissolution of his Parliament-Funkadelic empire, which collapsed in 1980-1981 after a creative and commercial downturn, George Clinton re-emerged in 1982 on Capitol Records as a solo artist. Computer Games, his solo debut, is actually only solo in its billing, however, as the album features several of the core P-Funk musicians with whom Clinton had collaborated in years past, most notably Bootsy Collins, Gary Shider, Fred Wesley, and Walter “Junie” Morrison. All the same, Clinton is clearly in the spotlight throughout Computer Games, and his vocal performances are as wacky and charming as ever, especially on the album’s two hit singles, “Atomic Dog” and “Loopzilla.” From a musical standpoint, there’s a heavy emphasis here on synthesizers and drum machines, considerably more so than on any previous P-Funk effort. This was partly because of the times, for it was the early ’80s, after all, but also partly because of the smaller stable of musicians on hand. Whatever the reason, Computer Games marks a sharp break from Clinton’s past in many ways, and though it was a tremendously successful rebirth, with “Atomic Dog” topping the R&B chart and eventually becoming immortalized by hip-hop postmodernists, in an unfortunate twist of fate this debut effort also ended up marking the zenith of his solo career, as he would progressively stumble creatively in subsequent years.

Deja Entendu is the second album from Long Island based band Brand New, released in 2003. Vastly different from their first release, Your Favorite Weapon, Deja Entendu was positively received by critics for the meaningful songs and lyrics. Déjà Entendu is French for ‘already heard’ (much like the term ‘déjà vu’ meaning ‘already seen’) and is a commentary on modern rock. Two singles were released from the album: “The Quiet Things That No One Ever Knows” and “Sic Transit Gloria…Glory Fades”. The lyrics in this album are notably more mature than their previous record, portraying an enhanced feeling of fear, paranoia, and angst. Such examples include the rigors of endless touring (“I Will Play My Game Beneath the Spin Light”), Lacey’s struggle with his grandfather’s lung cancer (“Guernica”), the emotional and psychological tolls of sex (“Sic Transit Gloria…Glory Fades”), and Lacey’s dread that popularity will become his own demise like soccer star Diego Maradona and rock star Elvis Presley (Me vs. Maradona vs. Elvis). Also notable is the concept of a dual storyline that exists in “Good to Know That if I Ever Need Attention All I Have to Do Is Die”, where one story line reflects a writer’s life and the other is the story he writes.
During the final 20 seconds of the album, on the track “Play Crack the Sky”, Lacey can be heard muttering “Never to see any other way” before leaving the room. This phrase is in reference to the final track “A Day in the Life” on The Beatles’ Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band album.
This album ranked at #75 for Top 100 Albums of 2003 by Rate Your Music.
The album was certified Gold on May 29th 2007, nearly 4 years after its original release.
The song “Sic Transit Gloria…Glory Fades” was featured on the Xbox versions of the video games Tiger Woods PGA Tour and NHL 2004. The song “The Quiet Things That No One Ever Knows” was featured on the Playstation 2 versions of NHL 2004 and Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2004.
